Lace Frost

Different from the needle frost of last week. I wonder what special conditions lead to the many patterns that frost takes.

The temperatures are plummeting now. At the moment the mercury stands at 1/-17. My eighth graders are tracking the temperature on a wall graph they created. The curve looks like the slopes of the Tetons.

I expect temperatures will fall below zero by the end of the week and stay there. We only have 3 inches of snow, too little for trappers to get out by snow-go. Hopefully we will get another foot before the temperatures fall too low for snowfall. Stay warm, Mom!
